A duck boat overturned Saturday at a popular tourist attraction in Boston, injuring at least six people. The vessel tipped on its side at a Cambridge boat ramp near the entrance to the Charles River, and none of the passengers entered the water.
State police, the Marine Unit, and Cambridge police and fire departments responded to the scene. Injuries included minor cases and two more serious ones, and all passengers were accounted for.
The vehicle rolled onto its side when the tow rope broke while being towed on the ramp. As a precaution, the operator suspended tours for the day and is cooperating with state police and the Coast Guard to review the incident.
The amphibious vehicle is part of a fleet operated by the city's longstanding tour company, which has provided sightseeing tours for over three decades. The fleet has previously participated in parades for championship teams, including the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins.
