UMVA has learned that Blake Monroe, a 27-year-old British wrestling star, is set to make a highly anticipated debut on SmackDown, bringing with her a bold new persona that's been turning heads in the wrestling world.
The Islington local, who grew up in Hertfordshire, is the latest name moving from NXT to the main roster, and she's making it clear that she's a step above the likes of Fatal Influence, Sol Ruca, Joe Hendry, and Ricky Saints. "Do you really think I'm in that crowd? I'm not," she exclusively revealed. "I'm The Glamour. I'm special."
Blake's persona, dubbed The Glamour, is a unique blend of classic Hollywood and Sabrina Carpenter with a sinister twist. She promised that WWE and SmackDown audiences have never seen anything like her before, and that she's a woman with a versatility that's unmatched.
While Blake isn't giving away a specific debut date, she teased that a European tour is coming up, and fans will have to wait and see if she makes an appearance then. She's excited to take on the top names on SmackDown, including United States Champion Tiffany Stratton and WWE Women's Champion Rhea Ripley.
Blake's journey to the top has been a long and winding one, with stints in Japan and All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where she developed her persona and built a reputation as a fierce competitor. She recalled wrestling in school gyms and breweries across the UK, and said that the pandemic stalled her progress just as she was getting started.
But Blake persevered, and her big break came when she moved to Japan on a whim and had her first match within a week. "They were like, 'Let's do your first match, and then we'll talk about it,'" she laughed. "I had my first match, and they're like, 'You can stay.' So I just moved on a whim to Japan, but it was the best thing I could have done."
Blake's epic 18-month rivalry with Toni Storm in AEW saw them battle at Wembley Stadium, and she's brought that same level of intensity and theatrics to WWE. She's been able to show her "bad side" with the "Woman From Hell" edge to her character, and WWE is all-in on her ideas for her vignettes.
As The Glamour, Blake fits perfectly in WWE, but she could have easily been part of the Attitude Era or the Divas Era. "I grew up in the Divas Era, so I would have absolutely thrived," she raved. "For what those women were given, I feel like they would have two-minute matches, and they would still get the crowd excited, they would still look like a million bucks."
With her sights set on Rhea Ripley and other top champions, Blake is ready to take the WWE world by storm. And with her unique blend of glamour, intensity, and theatrics, there's no doubt that she's going to make a lasting impact.
