A legendary music festival, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1985, is returning to Lisbon this summer after a four-year hiatus. The inaugural event drew an astonishing 1.38 million people, instantly cementing its place as one of the world’s largest and most vibrant celebrations of music.
Rock in Rio Lisbon is set to ignite Parque Tejo with two weekends of unforgettable performances, June 20-21 and 27-28. The festival has already revealed a stellar lineup including iconic British singer Rod Stewart, pop sensation Katy Perry, and the groundbreaking rock band Linkin Park.
Now, the final headliner has been unveiled: Grammy-winning rapper 21 Savage. This marks his highly anticipated debut performance in Portugal, a moment fans have eagerly awaited.
Rising from the Atlanta music scene in 2013, 21 Savage has quickly become a defining voice in modern hip hop. His four albums and collaborations with artists like Drake, Offset, and Post Malone have captivated audiences worldwide.
His 2020 Grammy win for “A Lot” signaled his arrival as a major force in the industry, and his Lisbon performance promises a showcase of global hits from projects like “American Dream” and landmark collaborations.
Joining 21 Savage is fellow rapper Central Cee, who exploded onto the mainstream with tracks like “Day in the Life” and “Loading.” His collaboration with Dave, “Sprinter,” shattered records, becoming the longest-running No.1 rap song in UK chart history.
The lineup continues to build with the addition of Afrobeats superstar Rema, who has already conquered venues like Madison Square Garden and the O2 Arena. His global hit “Calm Down,” featuring Selena Gomez, reached unprecedented heights on the Billboard Hot 100 for an African artist.
The festival will also feature a diverse range of talent, including Brazilian trap star Matuê, rapper Filipe Ret, funk producer DENNIS, rising Afropop artist Irina Barros, Portuguese hip hop artist Carlão, and Spanish pop sensation Lola Índigo.
Festival organizers describe this year’s lineup as representing “the dominant musical language among younger generations.” From hip hop and trap to the infectious rhythms of Afrobeats, Rock in Rio Lisbon is embracing the sounds shaping global youth culture.
Beyond the headliners, the festival boasts a diverse roster of artists including Charlie Puth, Shaggy, and Joss Stone, ensuring a dynamic experience for all attendees. Each day will be curated around specific musical styles, offering something for every taste.
