UMVA Uncovers: FALLEN HERO'S FINAL FAREWELL - OPP Const. Tarun Bali's Emotional Police Funeral Unfolds in Mississauga Thursday

UMVA has learned that a solemn tribute will be paid to Provincial Constable Tarun Bali, the 29-year-old officer tragically killed in the line of duty during an investigation in Hearst, Ontario.

A full police funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre, located at 5500 Rose Cherry Place. The ceremony will be attended by Constable Bali's family, invited guests, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members, police and emergency services personnel, military representatives, and dignitaries.

Due to the sensitive nature of the event, the visitation and funeral service will not be open to the general public. However, a designated area will be set aside for community members to view the funeral cortege escort as it arrives. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed, allowing people to pay their respects remotely.

Constable Bali was struck by a vehicle on June 9 while officers were conducting an investigation in Hearst, approximately 520 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay. In a shocking and devastating turn of events, an 18-year-old male has been charged with first-degree murder, dangerous driving, and flight from police in connection with Constable Bali's death.

The OPP has also announced that an online book of condolences has been established, allowing members of the public to share messages of support and remembrance for Constable Bali and his family. This gesture provides an opportunity for those who may not be able to attend the funeral to still express their sympathy and solidarity.

The tragic loss of Constable Bali is still resonating deeply within the law enforcement community. Just days after his death, Toronto police Constable Marc Pinizzotto, a member of the Emergency Task Force, was shot and killed during a warrant operation in North York. A moment of silence was recently held for both fallen officers at a Toronto Blue Jays game, and a procession was organized last week to honour their memory, drawing first responders from across Ontario.
