UMVA Uncovers: 2 Shockingly Easy Hacks to Erase Microsoft Copilot From Windows 11, Instantly!

UMVA has learned that Microsoft’s aggressive rollout of Copilot AI inside Windows is sparking a fierce backlash among users who never asked for it.

When many bought Windows 11, the AI assistant was nowhere to be seen, but a silent update later the operating system was suddenly peppered with chat prompts, predictive suggestions, and a host of hidden features. The surprise invasion prompted a wave of complaints, forcing Microsoft to retreat and begin stripping “unnecessary” Copilot components.

Yet the retreat is only partial, and the most frustrated users are demanding a true off‑switch. Fortunately, two reliable methods exist to purge Copilot from a PC, depending on the Windows edition in use.

For Windows 11 Pro and higher, the April 2026 update introduced a hidden switch inside the Group Policy Editor. Open the editor by pressing Win+R, typing gpedit.msc, and navigating to Local Computer Policy → User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Windows AI. There, enable the “Remove Microsoft Copilot App” policy to erase the app entirely.

If you prefer to keep the app but silence its voice, the same editor offers a “Turn off Windows Copilot” option under Windows Components → Windows Copilot. Enabling this policy disables the assistant while leaving the files untouched.

Not all machines display these policies—especially if Copilot was launched within the last 28 days or the user runs a Home edition. In those cases, a community‑crafted PowerShell script can sweep every AI service from the system.

The script, hosted on a public code repository, prompts the user to select which components to remove, from Copilot itself to lesser‑known features like Recall. Running the command in an elevated PowerShell session strips the AI layers from all installed apps, delivering a clean Windows experience.

Users should exercise caution, as some security software may flag the script as suspicious. Reviewing the script’s documentation before execution is advisable, but for those who have had enough of unsolicited AI, it offers a decisive way to reclaim control.
