A major digital entertainment platform has announced a significant reduction in its online store, removing 551 titles from its library. The change will affect customers who have previously purchased movies and shows. The removal includes well-known titles such as Terminator 2, Paddington, Paddington 2, Pan’s Labyrinth, Rambo 3, and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
Customers will no longer be able to stream these purchased titles. The company cited content licensing agreements as the reason for the removal. The decision highlights that digital purchases do not constitute ownership of the content.
Similar actions have occurred in other regions, where titles were taken down due to expired licenses. An earlier merger of an anime streaming service also led to the deletion of a user’s library.
There is a possibility that a new licensing arrangement could be reached, allowing users to retain access to the removed titles after a specified date. The outcome of such negotiations remains uncertain.
In a separate instance, another content provider faced a large-scale removal of seasons but later revised its licensing terms to keep the content available. No official comment has been released regarding the current situation.
