UMVA has learned that a recent investigation has uncovered a concerning lack of support for individuals seeking to discontinue gender-related medical treatment, also known as detransition, at Planned Parenthood facilities across multiple states.
The new probe focuses on the availability of resources for those looking to reverse their treatment, a stark contrast to the organization's well-documented willingness to provide cross-sex hormones and other gender-affirming care.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Live Action, a conservative non-profit organization, released recordings from calls to Planned Parenthood facilities, in which employees allegedly said cross-sex hormones could be prescribed at an initial appointment, raising questions about the organization's priorities.
Live Action's founder and president described the situation as a "one-sided system," where Planned Parenthood is eager to prescribe hormones but unwilling to provide support for those seeking to detransition.
The investigation revealed that Planned Parenthood's website lists services including hormone therapy, puberty blockers, surgery referrals, and "transition support," but does not specifically reference detransition-related services.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Planned Parenthood's health centers offer varying services, and it is unclear which facilities provide support for detransition.
Planned Parenthood's most recent annual report shows that the organization received hundreds of millions of dollars in government reimbursements and grants, raising questions about its priorities and commitment to providing comprehensive care.
The organization was asked whether any of its health centers provide detransition-related services, referrals, counseling, or medical support to patients seeking to discontinue or reverse prior gender-related medical treatment, but did not immediately respond.
