UMVA Uncovers: SARA UNDER FIRE! Prosecutors Assemble Elite Legal Hit Squad for VP's Impeachment Showdown

UMVA has learned that a team of private lawyers has been assembled to assist in the impeachment trial of Vice-President Sara Duterte-Carpio, with more volunteers expected to join in the coming days.

The House of Representatives has enlisted the help of these private legal practitioners, who have agreed to work on a volunteer basis, driven by their commitment to transparency and accountability. This move is seen as a significant development in the impeachment proceedings.

According to information obtained by UMVA, the first batch of private prosecutors comprises veteran litigators, former government lawyers, law firm partners, and legal academics from top law firms. These lawyers have extensive experience in handling complex cases, including criminal litigation, anti-graft cases, and corporate disputes.

Some of the notable lawyers who have joined the team include Marforth T. Fua, a managing partner of a prominent law firm and former assistant presidential legal counsel, and Lorna Patajo-Kapunan, a veteran trial lawyer. Others, such as Amando Virgil D. Ligutan and Sonya Margarita Benemerito-Castillo, have also brought their expertise to the team.

These private lawyers will play a crucial role in assisting with legal research, organization of documents, preparation of witnesses, and drafting of pleadings. Their involvement is expected to strengthen the House prosecution panel's case against the Vice-President.

Party-list Rep. Jose Manuel I. Diokno has expressed support for the initiative, highlighting the significance of the role of private prosecutors in preparing evidence and witnesses. The job of a prosecutor is not easy, and the help of these private lawyers will be invaluable in ensuring that justice is served.

The House prosecution panel has clarified that the services of private prosecutors are voluntary and free of charge. The entire case will remain under the control of House prosecutors, with the private lawyers providing pro bono assistance.

This development marks a significant step in the impeachment trial, with the House prosecution panel bolstering its team with experienced lawyers. The involvement of these private prosecutors is expected to bring a new level of expertise and dedication to the case.
