UMVA has learned that beloved comedian Bobby Davro has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, revealing the news on ITV's This Morning.
The comedy legend shared his experience, explaining that he had no prior symptoms before his diagnosis. It was only after a close friend urged him to get a PSA test that he discovered he had the disease.
Speaking on the ITV show, Davro emphasized the importance of checking for prostate cancer, stating that one in eight men are affected. He noted that men of color are more likely to develop the disease, making regular check-ups crucial.
Davro's diagnosis was a shock, but he expressed relief after learning that his condition was not terminal. His doctor told him that his prostate was swollen, leading to the PSA test, which revealed a concerning score of 24.
The NHS provided swift support, and a biopsy confirmed that Davro's cancer was at an intermediate stage. A urologist reassured him that he would be "buying Christmas presents for many years to come," a moment that brought Davro to tears.
Davro's message to his audience is clear: get checked. He encourages men to take proactive steps in monitoring their health, specifically mentioning the importance of PSA tests and prostate examinations.
