Buffy's Star GONE: His Last Words Will SHOCK You.

Buffy's Star GONE: His Last Words Will SHOCK You.

In a final, poignant farewell, Nicholas Brendon, beloved for his role as Xander Harris in *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*, connected with fans in a livestream just a year before his passing. His family confirmed he died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 54, following years of health challenges.

The livestream, simply titled “Candle time with Nicky,” offered a glimpse into the actor’s warmth and gratitude. He responded to heartfelt messages, acknowledging the enduring affection fans held for him and his iconic character. When told he was “iconic” and that admirers had harbored crushes for years, Brendon humbly replied, “That’s actually a really sweet thing to say. Wow – thank you.”

Even a seemingly simple question – had he ever watched *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*? – became a moment of endearing honesty. “I have watched every single episode of Buffy,” he confessed with a laugh, quickly adding, “If I were to do a Buffy trivia with a Buffy fan, I would lose hands down. I know this because it happened.”

For seven years, Brendon embodied Xander Harris, appearing in all but one of the show’s 144 episodes. He revealed that the role had been profoundly impactful, initially pursuing acting as a way to overcome a childhood stutter. *Buffy* wasn’t just a job; it was a catalyst for personal growth.

His family’s tribute highlighted a more recent passion: art. “Nicky loved to share his enthusiastic talent with his family, friends and fans,” they shared in a statement. “He was passionate, sensitive, and endlessly driven to create.” They described art as the “purest reflection of who he was.”

The statement acknowledged Brendon’s past struggles with health issues, including a heart attack in 2023, a congenital heart defect, and cauda equina syndrome. Despite these challenges, his family requested privacy as they mourned his loss and celebrated a life lived with “intensity, imagination, and heart.”

Tributes poured in from Brendon’s *Buffy* co-stars. Sarah Michelle Gellar, the show’s star, poignantly reflected on the often-unseen struggles of those who support the heroes. “They’ll never know how tough it is to be the one who isn’t chosen… I saw you, Nicky. I know you are at peace.”

Alyson Hannigan, who played Willow Rosenberg, remembered Brendon with fondness, linking him to a simple, comforting image: “I will think of you every time I see a rocking chair. I love you. RIP.” Emma Caulfield shared a clip of a duet they performed together, her heart heavy with grief.

Beyond *Buffy*, Brendon’s career included roles in *Criminal Minds*, *Private Practice*, and *Without a Trace*. But it was his portrayal of Xander, the loyal friend and comedic heart of *Buffy*, that cemented his place in the hearts of fans worldwide. His final livestream stands as a touching reminder of the man behind the character, a man who cherished connection and creativity.
