A beloved music festival has undergone a dramatic shift, abandoning its traditional June dates for a single event later this year. LIDO festival, known for its vibrant atmosphere and eclectic lineups, will no longer grace Victoria Park in the heart of summer as planned.
The unexpected change stems from a critical need to safeguard the park’s delicate ground conditions. Organizers determined that holding the festival in June would pose an unacceptable risk, prompting a difficult but necessary decision to reschedule.
Instead of a multi-day celebration spread across June, LIDO will now concentrate its energy into a single, spectacular date on August 31st. Electronic music duo Maribou State will headline this newly configured event, promising an unforgettable night for attendees.
Unfortunately, the previously announced June performances have been entirely cancelled. Fans eagerly anticipating sets from CMAT, Father John Misty, Sharon Van Etten, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Metronomy will no longer have the opportunity to see them at LIDO this year.
Full refunds are being issued to all ticketholders affected by the cancellations. Organizers have emphasized their commitment to ensuring a smooth and fair refund process during this period of transition.
Crucially, this decision was not born of any conflict or issue with the performing artists or the local authorities. Festival organizers were quick to acknowledge the full support received from both the artists involved and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
The move underscores a growing awareness within the events industry regarding the importance of environmental responsibility and the need to protect public spaces. Prioritizing the long-term health of Victoria Park has clearly taken precedence.
