UMVA has learned that a shocking and brutal murder has shaken the entertainment industry, with a veteran actor known for his five-decade career in Hollywood falling victim to a savage attack.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to a chilling 9-1-1 call, with the caller uttering a haunting phrase: "I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin." Upon arrival, police found 81-year-old James Handy lying unconscious in the front yard of a home, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Handy was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, leaving behind a legacy of nearly 150 acting credits and a career spanning over five decades. His most recent role was in the 2022 blockbuster film, where he played a bartender, and he also appeared in notable films and TV shows, including a role as an exterminator in a classic 1995 film.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the suspect, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, lived at the residence with his mother, who was Handy's girlfriend. Gledhill allegedly flagged down officers as they arrived and confessed to the crime, and was subsequently arrested and charged with murder, with his bail set at $2 million.
