TRUMP'S MOTORCADE SHATTERS OBAMA'S $38M DISASTER FIX IN EPIC REFLECTING POOL STUNT

TRUMP'S MOTORCADE SHATTERS OBAMA'S $38M DISASTER FIX IN EPIC REFLECTING POOL STUNT

President Donald Trump rolled through Washington, D.C., in his motorcade—not for a speech or a signing, but to stand inside an empty, drained Reflecting Pool. The iconic water feature, stretching 2,000 feet between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, had become his latest canvas.

Stepping onto the pool's bare floor, Trump declared the restoration was fixing a "disaster" left by the Obama administration. He boasted that his team's $1.8 million overhaul dwarfed the $38 million spent under his predecessor—a project he called a "construction nightmare" that sprang leaks the moment it was finished.

Joining him was Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, there to watch workers apply a new industrial-strength sealant. But Trump had a more personal touch in mind: he revealed he personally selected the paint color—"American Flag Blue."

"The color was never good because basically it had a gray stone underneath," Trump told reporters. "Now it’s going to have the great color. It’s going to last a long time and you’ll have no leak—guaranteed."

The Reflecting Pool, a magnet for millions of tourists and a stage for historic ceremonies, had long been a thorn in the National Park Service's side. Previous planning documents showed estimates to fix the 2,400-foot-long basin ranging up to $355 million over years. Trump's team claimed to do it in two weeks for a fraction of that cost.

That earlier $30 million rehabilitation, completed in 2012, was supposed to solve structural issues and chronic leaking. Yet the problems persisted—until now, according to the president.

The inspection was just one piece of a broader "beautification" campaign sweeping the capital. Burgum said the Interior Department had cleared over 1,000 graffiti sites and dismantled 82 homeless encampments in recent months, all under Trump's directive to make Washington "safe and beautiful."

"We’ve never had a president who has cared more, invested more, or put more time and attention into everything about the Mall," Burgum declared.

Trump also teased future projects: upgrades to the Lincoln Memorial Undercroft and a proposed Triumphal Arc. But for now, the blue-painted pool, empty of water and full of promise, was the story—and its author was standing on the floor, grinning.
