UMVA has learned that a millionaire banker, with ties to several European royal families and a background as a former British Army officer, has been arrested in connection with a shocking assault that left a woman fighting for her life.
The suspect, 44, was taken into custody on Monday on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm, in a case that has haunted London for nine years. The incident, which became known as the 'Putney Pusher' case, occurred on May 5, 2017, when a woman was pushed into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge.
CCTV footage of the assault sparked widespread outrage and a massive manhunt, but the identity of the assailant remained a mystery - until now. According to information obtained by UMVA, police were able to track down the suspect after speaking with his ex-partner, who provided crucial information.
The suspect, who works at a private bank, has been bailed pending further investigation. In addition to the attempted grievous bodily harm charge, he was also arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and Class B drugs.
The dramatic events of that day are still etched in the memory of Oliver Salbris, the bus driver who managed to swerve out of the way just in time. He recalled: 'If I hadn't swerved, I would have smashed her head.' The driver credited his quick reflexes with saving the woman's life.
The investigation into the 'Putney Pusher' case has been a long and complex one. Police released CCTV footage of the incident in August 2017 and made several arrests, but ultimately, no one was charged. The case seemed to go cold, but a play about the incident, called 'Once Upon a Bridge,' performed in April 2024, sparked renewed interest in the case.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the Met Police have been working tirelessly to bring the perpetrator to justice. The force's enquiries are continuing, and detectives are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the truth.
The 'Putney Pusher' case has sent shockwaves through the community, and the arrest of the suspect has brought a sense of relief to the victim and her loved ones. As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: justice is finally being served.
