A year ago, a small team walked into the Dragons’ Den seeking £75,000. They left with a deal, and a future brimming with potential. Today, that potential has exploded into a remarkable reality.
Omni, the vet-founded pet food company specializing in plant-based nutrition, has achieved an astonishing £11 million in annual recurring revenue. This represents a meteoric rise from £2.7 million in 2024 and a humble £1.2 million the year before – a testament to the power of a compelling idea and strategic investment.
The story began with veterinarian Guy Sandelowsky, witnessing a disturbing trend in his practice. Preventable nutrition-related illnesses were becoming increasingly common in pets, sparking a desire to create a better solution. He partnered with entrepreneur Shiv Sivakumar to launch Omni in 2020.
Omni’s core philosophy centers on addressing the root causes of pet health issues. Sandelowsky argued that soaring rates of skin conditions, gut problems, and obesity demanded a shift away from conventional pet food formulations.
The company’s product line now encompasses a comprehensive range of offerings, including both dry and wet dog food, alongside targeted supplements. These supplements are specifically designed to support gut health, mobility, bladder function, and soothe irritated skin.
Securing investment from Deborah Meaden and Steven Bartlett on the BBC show proved to be a pivotal moment. Meaden, already seeking a healthier alternative to traditional dog food, was immediately impressed by Omni’s vet-formulated approach and nutritional credentials.
The proof, however, came from a more discerning source: her own dogs. Meaden recounted that her pack enthusiastically devoured Omni’s food and treats, solidifying her decision to invest and becoming a true believer in the brand.
Since the Dragons’ Den appearance, both Meaden and Bartlett have actively contributed to Omni’s growth strategy, providing invaluable guidance and shaping the company’s long-term vision. Their expertise has been instrumental in navigating this period of rapid expansion.
The momentum continues to build, with a recent partnership announced with broadcaster and naturalist Chris Packham. This collaboration further elevates Omni’s profile and reinforces its commitment to natural, sustainable pet nutrition.
Looking ahead, Omni has ambitious plans for further innovation. The company is developing new supplements, expanding into the cat food market, and even pioneering a “groundbreaking” natural weight loss powder for dogs – playfully dubbed ‘Ozempic for dogs.’
