Miami Beach erupted in outrage after a disturbing display of antisemitism unfolded Sunday night. A group of internet personalities brazenly requested and heard the song “Heil Hitler” – now retitled “Hallelujah” – played within a local nightclub, sparking immediate condemnation.
Mayor Steven Meiner, himself a Jewish man who visibly practices his faith, responded with fierce denunciation. He identified the group as including white nationalist Nick Fuentes, influencers Sneako, Clavicular, Myron, Justin Waller, and controversial figures Andrew and Tristan Tate, all present in Miami Beach.
The incident began with the group filming themselves blasting the song inside a limousine, a chilling prelude to its public airing within the Vendome nightclub. Meiner’s statement described the act as “chanting Nazi slogans that glorified the Holocaust – symbols of hatred, genocide, and one of the darkest chapters in human history.”
The mayor’s personal connection to the horrors of the Holocaust deepened the emotional weight of his response. He revealed that numerous members of his grandparents’ family were victims of Hitler’s regime, their memory serving as a solemn reminder of the past.
The song itself, originally released independently by Ye, contains deeply troubling lyrics. While ostensibly expressing frustration with personal struggles – lost custody of children and frozen bank accounts – it shockingly incorporates the phrase “I’m a Nazi” and repeats “heil Hitler.”
Vendôme nightclub swiftly issued an apology, unequivocally condemning the song and the ideology it represents. The statement emphasized the club’s commitment to inclusivity and its rejection of antisemitism, hate speech, and prejudice in all forms.
However, the individuals involved appeared defiant in the face of criticism. Influencer Sneako responded to the nightclub’s apology with a provocative question, asking why similar condemnation doesn’t exist for music he claims glorifies violence against Black people.
Clavicular echoed this sentiment, dismissing the backlash as insignificant, suggesting the widespread presence of their content online somehow mitigated the harm caused. This dismissive attitude further fueled the outrage surrounding the incident.
The incident also brought renewed scrutiny to political figures who have associated with members of the group. Gubernatorial candidate James Fishback recently defended a “good conversation” with Sneako and Clavicular, praising their intelligence.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has previously taken a strong stance against the Tate brothers, declaring them unwelcome in the state following their release from Romanian custody where they faced serious charges including human trafficking. His administration indicated a potential investigation into their activities within the state.
Florida boasts the third-largest Jewish population in the United States, with over 700,000 residents. The incident occurred as Israel prepares to host its second International Conference on Combating Antisemitism, highlighting the global urgency of addressing this rising threat.
Footage of the group’s actions has rapidly spread across social media, garnering millions of views and igniting a fierce debate about the boundaries of free speech and the responsibility of platforms to address hate speech. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the enduring power of antisemitism and the need for vigilance against its resurgence.
