Joel Dommett is paying the price for a lost bet, and the consequence is… a nipple piercing. The Masked Singer UK host found himself wincing in discomfort as a metal bar was driven through his flesh, all thanks to a challenge issued by his friend and podcast co-host, Ben Shephard.
The unusual wager stemmed from their chaotic journey launching a new men’s skincare brand, a process they’re documenting on their podcast, “The Business Men.” The bet itself revolved around attracting listeners – whoever garnered the fewest responses faced the ultimate penalty.
Ben Shephard initially seemed relieved to avoid the piercing himself, playfully declaring his nipples “national treasures” and acknowledging his wife’s disapproval of the idea. However, relief quickly turned to witnessing a truly uncomfortable moment for his friend.
A newly released clip captures the entire ordeal, showing Ben at Joel’s bedside as the piercing took place. Joel’s reaction was immediate and blunt: “I absolutely hate it.” He then added, with a touch of desperation, “It feels like we better have a f*ing successful skincare brand.”
The stakes were surprisingly high for Ben. His wife, Annie, issued a firm ultimatum: a nipple piercing meant no coming home. Joel’s wife, Hannah, shared similar displeasure. Ben confessed to being “forever traumatised” by the experience, describing Joel’s visible pain as the needle pierced his skin.
This isn’t the only surprise the duo has delivered recently. Just days before the piercing, Ben Shephard shocked the nation by revealing himself as the runner-up on “The Masked Singer” – disguised as the character Conkers.
The reveal was particularly stunning considering Ben had been interviewing eliminated contestants on “This Morning” throughout the season, maintaining a facade of complete ignorance. He managed to keep the secret by skillfully feigning curiosity and asking detailed questions about the contestant experience.
Joel’s reaction to the Masked Singer reveal was one of utter disbelief, collapsing to the floor in shock. Ben explained his success in deception came from simply playing the role of an inquisitive interviewer, even while knowing the truth.
