The recent deposition of Bill Clinton regarding his connections to Jeffrey Epstein has become fodder for sharp commentary, most notably on the revived comedy panel show, Mock the Week.
Clinton testified before Congress, maintaining his innocence and asserting he “saw nothing, and did nothing wrong” regarding the disgraced financier. Records, however, reveal he traveled on Epstein’s private jet a staggering 26 times, sparking intense scrutiny.
During a recent episode, comedian Ahir Shah delivered a biting observation to the panel: “Bill Clinton is sort of the one guy you’re like, it would be weirder if he hadn’t been [in the Epstein files].” The studio audience erupted in laughter, acknowledging the uncomfortable truth behind the joke.
Shah continued, drawing a stark contrast: “You find out Stephen Hawking was there and you’re like: ‘Sorry, what?’ and then someone finds out Clinton was there and you’re like: ‘Oh yeah, the sex president, that makes sense.’”
Host Dara O’Briain joined the fray, adding his own pointed remark: “Yeh the guy who had sex in The Oval Office, how would he not have been there, Epstein would be in Clinton’s files.” The quip underscored the long-standing public awareness of Clinton’s past indiscretions.
Clinton also used the hearing to defend his wife, Hillary, vehemently stating she had no involvement with Epstein, claiming she had no recollection of ever meeting him and never traveled with or visited his properties. He argued her inclusion in the subpoena was “simply not right.”
The hearing itself was preceded by statements from James Comer, chair of the House Oversight Committee, who highlighted the potential for powerful individuals to evade accountability for “heinous crimes.”
The unfolding situation has already led to the arrest – and subsequent release on bail – of prominent figures like Prince Andrew and Peter Mandelson, further emphasizing the wide-reaching implications of the Epstein files.
Mock the Week, known for its fearless approach to current events, has consistently tackled controversial topics since its return. The show previously dissected the Beckham family feud with equally unflinching humor, proving its commitment to provocative discussion.
