ICE AGENTS ATTACKED! Congressman Demands Total Abolition NOW!

A tense confrontation in Brooklyn has reignited the debate over U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, with New York City’s mayor firmly reiterating his call for the agency’s abolition.

The catalyst was a protest that erupted outside Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, sparked by the apprehension of a Nigerian national while he was receiving treatment for injuries. The individual, identified as Chidozie Wilson Okeke, had allegedly attempted to use a vehicle to strike federal agents during his arrest.

Footage circulating online showed a New York police officer forcibly detaining a protester, drawing immediate criticism and prompting the mayor to address the situation. He asserted that the NYPD’s role was solely to manage the demonstration itself, not to participate in immigration enforcement.

The mayor highlighted the case of Okeke, who authorities say overstayed his tourist visa and has a prior arrest record. He expressed deep concern over Okeke’s detention, describing it as occurring “without any active warrant” and fueling his long-held belief that ICE’s practices are fundamentally flawed.

Department of Homeland Security officials countered that Okeke was non-compliant, actively resisting arrest and even attempting to harm agents with his vehicle. They maintained that officers used only the necessary force to secure his apprehension.

Following his arrest, Okeke was taken to the hospital for evaluation, where officials reported he continued to resist, becoming “physically combative” and disrupting the medical process. He had originally entered the U.S. as a tourist in 2023 and was required to depart by February of this year.

The situation escalated further when ICE agents moved to transport Okeke from the hospital, prompting a larger protest outside. Demonstrators allegedly damaged ICE vehicles and physically assaulted agents, resulting in minor injuries.

Six individuals – Sharon Freystaetter, Presleigh Hayashida, Chloe Sells, Tomas Laster, Jennifer Hansen, and Caswell Parker – now face charges including disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental administration, with most also accused of resisting arrest.

The mayor underscored the need for a more compassionate approach to immigration, arguing that “humanity” should be central to the process, rather than an afterthought. He believes the current system lacks this essential element.

This incident has once again brought into sharp focus the complex and often contentious relationship between local authorities, federal immigration enforcement, and the communities they serve.
