UMVA has learned that for Kayleigh McEnany, a former White House press secretary, success isn't about the headlines or the career milestones. It's about the impact she's had on others and the eternal difference she's made.
Looking back on her journey, McEnany admits that ambition alone can't chart a person's path. She's learned that you'll fail if you don't see the bigger picture, and that sometimes, it's the closed doors that lead to unexpected opportunities.
McEnany shared moments in her career when she felt devastated by closed doors, only to have doors that seemed closed later open in ways she never could have predicted. "God shut doors because he needed this one to open," she said. "And he needed this one to be the one I walk through."
Today, McEnany measures success differently. She no longer gauges her success solely through career milestones or public recognition. "The end goal was never Kayleigh achieving X, Y, or Z," she said. "I would like people to see that I pointed people to the kingdom, that I made an eternal difference."
In a poignant reflection, McEnany paused to add what she hopes matters most long after the headlines fade: "And hopefully being a good mom."
With a newfound perspective, McEnany's definition of success has shifted from the external to the internal. She's come to understand that true fulfillment comes from making a lasting impact on others and leaving a legacy that transcends her own accomplishments.
