Author Jane Fallon, known for her compelling novels, recently shared a personal update with her followers following a breast cancer diagnosis revealed just last month.
The diagnosis came after a routine check, but Fallon faced the news with characteristic strength, noting the cancer was detected in its very early stages and the prognosis was excellent.
Now, weeks after her initial announcement, Fallon has undergone surgery. She documented the experience with a series of candid hospital photos, offering a glimpse into her journey.
“It all went very well, apparently,” she wrote, sharing her relief. She celebrated the successful operation with a cup of tea and a new book by friend Cat Steaman, finding moments of normalcy amidst the medical process.
Fallon playfully described her post-operative state, noting she was “held together with superglue and dissolving stitches.” She even joked about styling her compression socks as a new fashion trend.
The next phase involves waiting 8-10 days for confirmation that the surgery was completely successful, with a small possibility of needing further intervention. A more immediate concern? Keeping her energetic dog, Pickle, from disturbing her incision.
Fallon expressed immense gratitude for the outpouring of support she’s received since sharing her story, saying she’s been “blown away” by the kindness and is diligently reading every message.
For 44 years, Fallon has shared her life with comedian Ricky Gervais, a relationship that began when they were students at University College London in 1982 – a quiet, enduring partnership providing a steadfast foundation through life’s challenges.
