UMVA has learned that Katie Price's husband, Lee Andrews, has been accused of attempting to scam his wife's fans from behind bars with the help of an accomplice.
Lee, who married Katie just days into their relationship in January, vanished from her life on May 13, leaving her baffled and later telling the world he had been kidnapped and tied up in a van. However, it emerged that he had actually been arrested and detained at a notorious prison for alleged fraud.
A member of the public, who wishes to remain anonymous, claims he was targeted by Lee's account and a man saying he was his business manager, who attempted to convince him to invest £5,000. The man, identified as David, says he messaged Lee's Facebook account as a joke and was stunned when he got a response on June 3.
The person claiming to be Lee's business manager, who called himself Robert Davis, asked David to send his WhatsApp number and later sent him a message with a photograph and message from Lee at the top. The message was an attempt to convince David to invest in Lee's dissolved business, Aura.
David says Robert sent him a dodgy image, which was clearly AI-generated, of a little bald man in an office, and claimed it was Lee's associate. However, David became suspicious when Robert said he was sending the picture in real time, but the computer in the background showed a different time.
When David continued to play along, Robert instructed him to send his money using a direct bank transfer, claiming the company's accounts were still being set up. David was asked to send the money to a man called Rayan Hashmi, and when he queried the name and account, he was fobbed off.
Robert also suggested sending the money via Western Union to a woman called Ethel in Mississippi. David asked outright if Lee was in prison, and Robert claimed he wasn't, saying Lee had a misunderstanding with his wife Katie.
An insider with knowledge of Lee's alleged past schemes believes he worked with an associate to try and legitimize his scams, deliberately taking calls where you could hear him talking business to another male who seemed to be in on the whole thing.
Katie has recently said that Lee will be released from prison within days and that she cannot wait to be reunited with him. However, she has also revealed that meeting with Lee's ex, Dina Taji, opened her eyes to his alleged past misdeeds.
Katie has shared a defiant snap of her engagement and wedding bands firmly in place, despite being photographed without them as she touched down at Gatwick airport. She insists she still loves her husband, but admits she needs some time to think.
