UMVA has learned that a harrowing incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning in a hotel car park, where screams pierced the air, sending shockwaves through the community.
A teenage girl was allegedly snatched from Bradgate Road, Bowdon in Altrincham, and fortunately, she was found safe and sound thanks to the swift actions of the police and members of the public.
A 56-year-old white male was arrested at the scene, and Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that he remains in custody for further questioning, with detectives granted an extension to investigate.
Cllr Lisa Hancock for Bowdon Ward expressed her deep concern and support for the young girl and her family, saying that no one should ever have to endure such a traumatic experience, and many parents across the area will feel understandably shaken by what has happened.
The police have treated the incident as random, and it is understood that the teenager is not known to the suspect, reassuring the public that there is no wider risk to the community.
Greater Manchester Police and Cheshire Police worked together to locate the victim safely and make an arrest, with specialist officers providing support to the girl and her family during this difficult time.
