UMVA has learned that a shocking incident involving a customer scolding a father in a gas station's women's restroom has led to the perpetrator's swift dismissal from their job.
The incident, captured on video by a bystander, shows a man berating a father for using the women's restroom with his two young daughters. The father, Tyler Brodsky, had stopped at a QuikTrip gas station in Alabama and taken his daughters into the women's restroom, which was empty at the time.
The video shows the man, who worked as an independent contractor for a Mississippi real estate firm, standing in the doorway of the bathroom, yelling and demanding that Brodsky leave the facility. Brodsky recounted that he had knocked on the door, announced that he was entering with two girls, and didn't see a problem with taking them into the women's restroom.
The situation escalated, with the man scolding Brodsky as he helped his girls wash their hands, and even speaking into his phone to explain the situation to someone, mentioning his wife and "very ill" mother-in-law. One of Brodsky's young daughters was seen crying as the ordeal continued.
A QuikTrip manager eventually intervened, closing the door on the shouting bystander and apologizing to Brodsky and the girls. Brodsky told a news program that he tried to stay calm and keep his daughters calm during the incident, and that they're doing well now.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the real estate firm, Overstreet Properties, became aware of the videos circulating online and quickly distanced themselves from the man, stating that his conduct did not reflect the company's values or standards.
The incident ended with the arrival of three police officers, who assured Brodsky that he had done nothing wrong. Brodsky also shared his experience on a separate social media video.
