Actor Robbie GK will not reprise his role in the second season of the coming‑of‑age comedyOvercompensatingdue to a scheduling conflict with the production ofHeated Rivalry.
Robbie appeared as Riley in three episodes of the first season, gaining wider recognition after his performance as Kip Grady in the new series.
While filming for the second season ofOvercompensatingbegan in April, the actor’s commitments to the upcomingHeated Rivalryseries, which starts in July, made a return impossible.
The show’s creator expressed a strong desire to bring the character back, noting that the actors are busy but leaving the possibility open for future appearances.
Fans reacted with disappointment on social media, but the production team remains focused on delivering a fresh storyline for the new season.
Season two is set to premiere in September, following the first season’s May debut. The plot centers on the character Benny’s accidental outing as gay in front of his family.
Production for the new season commenced in April, featuring guest appearances by Tom Francis, AnnaSophia Robb, and Aisha Dee. Additionally, the actress who portrayed the popular character Hailee has been promoted to a series regular.
The creator will also take on a second role in the upcoming season and has hinted at a “sinister” element to the narrative.
