Washington D.C. transformed into a sea of pink and floral patterns Friday night, as the National Cherry Blossom Festival officially launched with its annual Pink Tie Party. The event, held within the grand halls of Union Station, wasn’t just a celebration of spring – it was a full immersion into the “Art of Fashion.”
Guests weren’t simply observing beauty; they were enveloped by it. Live music filled the air, mingling with delicate scents from a unique scent bar where attendees crafted personalized perfumes, taking a piece of the evening’s magic home with them. Though the beloved Stumpy, the iconic cherry blossom tree, is no longer with us, its legacy continues to blossom. Saplings grown from Stumpy are thriving, and there’s hope they’ll grace the Tidal Basin as early as next year, continuing a cherished tradition.
For those eager to honor Stumpy’s memory, a spirited paddle boat race is scheduled for March 19th. Meanwhile, the anticipation builds for the peak bloom, predicted to unfold between March 29th and April 1st, promising a breathtaking spectacle for all.
