Rapper Skepta has expressed his outrage over the behavior of some men who interacted with his 13-year-old daughter, North West, at Paris Fashion Week. The teenager was surrounded by several male attendees hoping for a picture, leading to a series of uncomfortable exchanges.
In one video, North can be seen reaching out for a handshake, only for an adult man to grab her for a hug. Other photos and videos show her looking uneasy as another grown man poses for a picture with his arm draped over her shoulder.
Skepta, 43, took to social media to share his reaction to the incident, labeling it as "sickening." He re-shared a video of the exchange and captioned it, "A blind man could see she wanted a handshake." He later added that the behavior of these men was "sick" and that they were complete strangers who had no right to interact with North in such a way.
The rapper's reaction was met with some backlash from social media users, with one user asking if hugging was now a "social offense." Skepta replied, "What are you talking about?! She is 13 years old and she put her hand out for a handshake, you don't ignore that."
He also responded to a user who claimed that North had "basically skipped being a teenager" due to her piercings, saying, "WOW!! Protect your kids people. Protect your kids!"
Skepta's final post on the matter described the incident as "sickening" and added, "Schools teaching French, German & English when really the language most people need to f*g learn is 'Body Language.'"
North West is the eldest of four children born to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The family has been in the spotlight for many years, with North following in her parents' footsteps by pursuing a career in music and performance.
The incident has sparked a wider conversation about the importance of respecting children's boundaries and teaching them about body language and consent.
