A shadow fell over Crawley Magistrates’ Court this morning as Kieran Hayler, the ex-husband of Katie Price, arrived facing grave accusations. He is charged with three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, allegations stemming from events said to have occurred years ago.
Hayler, 38, kept his head lowered as he navigated a gathering of photographers, the falling snow seeming to mirror the weight of the charges against him. He offered only confirmation of his personal details to the court, remaining silent on the accusations themselves.
The prosecution outlined that the alleged offenses took place during the summer of 2016, when the complainant was reportedly spending time at what has been described as the family home. The identity of the young woman remains protected by law.
Hayler was released on bail with strict conditions – he is prohibited from any contact with the alleged victim. A crucial hearing is scheduled for December 17th at Lewes Crown Court, where he will be required to enter a plea.
Police initiated the investigation last month, leading to the formal charges. Authorities confirmed the alleged incidents occurred between June and October of 2016, a period when Hayler was still married to television personality Katie Price.
The alleged victim has no familial connection to either Hayler or Price. Following the charges, Hayler’s legal team issued a statement asserting his complete denial of all allegations, emphasizing his full cooperation with the ongoing investigation.
Sources suggest Katie Price herself may be called to testify. As she was married to Hayler during the timeframe of the alleged offenses, her evidence could be pivotal to the case. Friends and family are reportedly being prepared to potentially give evidence as well.
Price recently alluded to the situation during a public appearance with Kerry Katona, speaking about the impact of past trauma on her relationships and hinting at unsettling “current news” that felt disturbingly close to home. She carefully avoided direct comment, acknowledging the sensitivity of the matter.
Hayler and Price’s marriage, spanning from 2013 to 2018, was often turbulent and publicly scrutinized. Infidelity marked their relationship, leading to multiple separations and reconciliations, including vow renewals in 2015 and 2017 before ultimately ending in divorce in 2021.
The divorce was described by Hayler as a profoundly difficult experience. He later found a relationship with Michelle Penticost, with whom he shares a young son, but that engagement ended earlier this year after seven years together, adding another layer of personal upheaval to an already complex situation.
