ANTISEMITISM SCANDAL! Fired Scream Star BLASTS ‘Scabby’ Co-Stars and Sequel in Explosive Rant

ANTISEMITISM SCANDAL! Fired Scream Star BLASTS ‘Scabby’ Co-Stars and Sequel in Explosive Rant

Melissa Barrera, the star of the horror franchise *Scream*, was unceremoniously fired from the upcoming seventh installment in November 2023. Her crime? Speaking out against the Israeli government's assault on Gaza after the October 7 Hamas attacks, which killed around 1,200 people at a music festival.

The actress didn't hold back on Instagram. She reshared a post questioning how the world watches genocide happen—and added her own fiery words: "Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp. No electricity, no water, nowhere to go. People have learned nothing from our histories. THIS IS GENOCIDE & ETHNIC CLEANSING."

Barrera also posted a Mexican flag, calling herself from "a colonized country," and declared "Palestine will be free." She drew a clear line: "Just like all Palestinians are NOT Hamas, all Jewish people are NOT the Israeli government. Do not blame a whole group for the actions of some."

Spyglass Media, the production company behind *Scream*, swiftly cut ties. In a statement, they claimed zero tolerance for antisemitism or incitement of hate, pointing to "false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion." Barrera fires back, calling those allegations "factually wrong."

The fallout rattled the franchise. Director Christopher Landon briefly tweeted, then deleted: "Everything sucks. Stop yelling. This was not my decision to make." Meanwhile, *Scream 7* reportedly posted the franchise's strongest box office performance—but Barrera disputes those numbers.

Now, she's rewriting her future. Currently starring on Broadway in *Titaníque*, she's focused on "building a slate, producing, and finding good companies to partner with." And she's making lists—of allies who defended her when the storm hit.

Those names? Susan Sarandon. Tatiana Maslany. Hannah Einbinder. Poppy Liu. And of course, Javier Bardem—"a dream to work with, though he doesn't need me to give him any opportunities." For Barrera, this isn't an ending. It's the start of a new chapter, built on shared values and fierce loyalty.
