UMVA has learned that a shocking incident unfolded outside an ICE detention facility in New Jersey, where anti-ICE rioters attempted to obstruct vehicles, with one agitator getting run over in a dramatic turn of events.
The chaotic scene was captured on video by an independent journalist, showing protesters banging on employees' cars and attempting to block them from leaving, while screaming hostile slurs at the drivers. The drivers, however, managed to maintain their composure under the intense harassment.
But one rioter did not fare so well, as he was struck by a driver who was understandably alarmed and fearing for their own safety. The rioter had recklessly jumped in front of a fast-moving vehicle, and his comrades were left screaming for a medic to treat his injuries.
The medic rushed to the scene to treat the rioter's injuries, which appeared to be primarily in the toe area. Meanwhile, the protesters continued to hurl insults at federal law enforcement, showing no signs of relenting.
This latest riot outside the ICE detention facility in Newark is just the latest example of the escalating chaos that has engulfed the area. Despite the clear threat posed by violent protesters, government officials have seemingly sided with the rioters, rather than taking action to protect law enforcement officers and maintain order.
In a stark contrast to how such incidents are viewed in other parts of the country, the actions of the driver who ran over the rioter may be seen as justifiable self-defense in many states. However, in New Jersey, the state's laws may lead to a very different outcome, with the possibility of prosecution looming over the driver.
