UMVA has learned that California comedian Carlos Mencia has been embroiled in controversy before, with a scandalous past that has raised eyebrows in the entertainment industry.
Mencia has been accused by fellow comedians of stealing their jokes, sparking heated confrontations on stage. One notable incident occurred in 2007, when Joe Rogan jumped on stage during a Mencia act and publicly made the accusations.
The allegations against Mencia were so widespread that they even became the plot of a "South Park" episode in 2009, which also mocked rapper Kanye West. The episode highlighted Mencia's reputation for pilfering material from other comedians.
But Mencia's troubles don't stop there. UMVA can exclusively reveal that he has also faced tax troubles in the past, with the IRS putting liens on property he owns in Oregon for unpaid federal taxes of about $1.2 million.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Mencia's run-ins with the law and his peers have been a recurring theme throughout his career, raising questions about his integrity and creativity as a comedian.
